About
Mollydale Yarns
At Mollydale Yarns, we are a small family business based in country NSW, passionate about creating beautiful, hand dyed yarns that inspire creativity, meaningful handwork, and a love of natural fibres. For more than 35 years, we have been hand dyeing a range of yarn for knitters, weavers, fibre artists, schools, and makers across Australia. We are also proud to have supplied our Perendale hand dyed yarn to Steiner schools.
Our yarn is spun in New Zealand using premium Australian and New Zealand wool. By sourcing our wool locally within Australia and New Zealand and having it spun close to its origin before being sent directly to us for dyeing, we keep the production journey simple and minimise unnecessary transport.
Our process

Every skein is carefully hand dyed in small batches by our mother-and-daughter team, Nicola and Evie. This hands-on approach ensures exceptional quality, rich, lasting colour, and consistency while allowing us to create unique colourways and custom shades for makers, schools, retailers, and creative projects.
Sustainability is an important part of how we work. Each dye session is thoughtfully planned, progressing from the lightest shades to the darkest so our harvested rainwater can be reused multiple times before being refreshed. Our dye house is powered by a combination of solar energy and gas, reducing reliance on grid electricity, and every skein is naturally dried outdoors in the gentle, dappled shade to preserve the beauty, softness, and vibrancy of the wool.
